Printed proof, with corrections in Gladstone's own hand, of a reply to a vote of welcome delivered before the students of the Nottingham Congregational Institute on 19 October 1887.

Administrative / Biographical History

W.E. Gladstone was born in 1809, the son of Sir John Gladstone and his wife Anne Mackenzie Robertson. He was educated at Eton and Oxford and he married Catherine Glynne in 1839, daughter of Sir Stephen Glynne of Hawarden Castle, Flintshire. They had four sons and four daughters. Gladstone was Prime Minsiter four times during the 19th century. He died in 1898.
