Scope and Content

Comprises: (1) Irina Henderson's literary manuscripts and offprints, especially on the poet Lermontov, with a few printed books, some correspondence with R.C. Lane concerning Tiutchev, and obituaries of Joseph Brodsky; and (2) Numerous picture postcards of Russia and Russian churches in Western Europe given to Irina Henderson by Alexander Wheater in 1994.

Administrative / Biographical History

Irina Ippolitovna Henderson (ne Mochalova, 1918-1999) was a member of the Russian migr community in Great Britain and a translator of Russian poetry into English. She was awarded an Oxford D.Phil. degree for a thesis on M.IU. Lermontov in 1979.
