Administrative / Biographical History
R. J. B. Heard, the son of Prebendary Henry J. Heard, was born in London. He served in the 1st Bn., Lancashire Fusiliers, attaining the rank of captain. He died in May 1915 and has a memorial in the Alexandria (Chatby) Military and War Memorial Cemetery, Egypt. The Chatby Memorial commemorates First World War servicemen who died at sea, of wounds or sickness, or when hospital or transport ships were sunk in the Mediterranean.
