Scope and Content

Typescript and page-proofs (with manuscript corrections) of W. J. Gruffydd, 'Islwyn' (Caerdydd, 1942). Papers of the Departmental Committee on the teachings of Welsh, 1923-25 and of the Sub-committee of the Central Welsh Board on the teaching of Welsh, 1922-23. Also included are several printed pamphlets bearing on the inquiries, e.g. Sir Joseph Bradney, The decay of the Welsh language in Monmouthshire (1926).

W. J. Gruffydd was Head of Welsh at University College Cardiff between 1919-46.
