    • 1 f. On recto of single leaf (verso blank), text enclosed in a printed rectangular border decorated with pictures of cats, dogs, insects and flowers, crudely hand-coloured; possibly intended as a greetings card. Gilded initial letters of the first 11 lines form an acrostic on the recipient's name. Signed at end "W.J.". Possibly autograph.

Scope and Content

Poem in praise of the young John Lindsay of Arnbathie (i.e. Abernethy?), evidently of the family of the Earls of Crawford, and possibly himself the future 19th earl, exhorting him to continued virtue in the future.
