Administrative / Biographical History

The donor's family has been long established in Somerset, first at Rosewall Farm, High Littleton and later at Chewton Field Farm, Chewton Mendip, which the donor's grandfather James Cox occupied in the early years of this century. In 1916 Chewton Field Farm was taken over by Alexander Cox. The donor himself, a graduate of Reading University, became an assistant manager at Liddington, Wiltshire on a farm which he later took over. He moved to Cowlease Farm, Shrivenham, Berkshire in 1936
