In 1853 he embarked on a fruitful literary career, publishing thirty original works and translating a total of sixty English books into Welsh. His primary literary achievement was the founding, in 1862, of the children's periodical Trysorfa y Plant, which appeared each month for the next fifty years, Levi himself serving as editor until 1911.
