Administrative / Biographical History
Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council was formed in 1996 taking over from Merthyr Tydfil Borough Council (1974-1996) with only minor boundary adjustments. The new council also took over the functions of Mid Glamorgan County Council within its area.
