Administrative / Biographical History

Refiners, importers, blenders and manufacturers of lubricating oils ('Alanzoil' oils and greases); founded by G.W.L. Allan 1937, acquired by Ragosine 1967. Its refinery was at Flour Mills Colliery works, Bream, Forest of Dean; offices successively at Gloucester, Mitcheldean and Cheltenham. Related concerns included Allen Wool Grease Company, Bisset Industries Limited, Bisset Agencies Limited, Allan Thorne Limited, import and export.
