Scope and Content

Thirty nine packs of cycling prints, negatives and transparencies, 1952-1998. Five binders, size A4, four containing small mounted slides and the fifth negatives both coloured and black and white, some of which relate to the photographs in the packs, 1964-1998. Commemorative medals, badges and pins, etc., collected by or awarded to Bryan Ward, the dates on them being from 1903-2000. Folder of cycling programmes, press cuttings and other items, 1952-2000.

Administrative / Biographical History

Bryan Ward was both a keen cyclist and keen photographer. He took up cycle racing in his early teens, won many medals and eventually became a cycling coach and team manager. He belonged to the South Manchester Camera Club and was in his element taking shots of cycling events.
