Scope and Content

Reginald Vivian Lennard (1885-1967) was an agricultural historian who had strong links with Oxford University. He gained a 1st class Modern History degree from New College (exhibitioner) in 1907 and became a lecturer in Modern History at Wadham College in 1909. In 1919 he became a Fellow of Wadham College and acted as Sub-Warden between 1937 and 1945. In between he was a lecturer to the Workers' Educational Association (1908-1915), part of the Labour section for the Ministry of Munitions (1915) and became a lecturer in Agricultural History at the Oxford School of Agriculture (1919-1932). The Lennard papers contain papers from the Royal Commission of Agriculture (member 1919), the Oxfordshire Agricultural Wages Committee and miscellaneous correspondence and items. The Lennard papers were presented to the Library by D. L. Munby in 1971.
