Administrative / Biographical History
J.M. Ainley was born in 1925 and educated at Huddersfield College School, Bridlington Grammar School and Yorkshire Institute of Agriculture. He joined the Overseas Civil Service in 1948 and served as an Agricultural Officer in Tanganyika until 1964. It was in this capacity that he became involved in the resettlement of the Kikuyu.
