Scope and Content

In consideration of #100 (payable in two instalments), Richard Lee of St Albans, Hertfordshire, assigns to Thomas Wren of Haddenham, Cambridgeshire, gent, a lease (dated 20 Nov 27 Henry VIII) for 41 years from 1546 of the manor of Henton, Cambridgeshire, held of the prior and convent of Ely. Lee requires a freeman of the city of London to stand bound for the sure payment of the consideration money. Signed and sealed by Richard Lee (seal missing), witnessed by William ?Carkeke, notary. Endorsed with receipt for #50, signed by Lee and dated 21 Dec 30 Henry VIII. Endorsed in later hand: 'No 1', and in blue crayon: 'Haddenham Co Cambridge'.
