Scope and Content

These papers comprise an untitled manuscript work by Chaturvedi Badrinath concerning the Hindu religion and its reaction to outside influences, and corresponding relating to the attempted publication of the work.

The collection also includes Dr Jackson's editing in order to produce the second editions of Newbigin's books in the early 1990s.

Administrative / Biographical History

Chaturvedi Badrinath was born on 30 June 1933 in Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh. He graduated from Lucknow University, studying philosophy and psychology. In 1957 he joined the Indian Administrative Service whilst continuing his research into Indian history and philosophy. Between 1973 and 1976, Badrinath was the first Commissioner of Archives and History Research.
