Scope and Content

The collection comprises of correspondence by Lady Wright to Antarctic explorer Apsley Cherry-Garrard who served with her husband Charles on the British Antarctic Expedition, 1910-1913 (leader Robert Falcon Scott).

Administrative / Biographical History

Lady Edith Mary Wright (nee Priestley) was related to the Antarctic explorer Raymond Priestley (1886-1974). She married Charles Wright in 1914 and they had a son and a daughter. Charles had served with Priestley on the British Antarctic Expedition, 1910-1913 (leader Robert Falcon Scott).
