Scope and Content

These four papers were found in 1984 in a copy of Blomfield's History of Ardley, Bucknell, Caversfield and Stoke Lyne (part of his history of the Deanery of Bicester). They were deposited with the Record Office that year on permanent loan, and assigned accession number 2321.

The papers consist of three letters and a genealogy. Although none of the three letters give the addressee's name, the context makes it clear that they were all written to Blomfield by correspondents anxious to correct errors in his book. It is not known how these documents came to be in this particular copy, nor how they survived detection until 1984.

Catalogued by Robin Darwall-Smith, March 1993.
