Changing Faces of Adult Literacy, Numeracy and ESOL: A Critital History of Policy and Practice 1970-2000. The material relates to literacy, numeracy and ESOL between 1970-2000. The archive includes policy documents, research reports, training & teaching materials, student writing & personal collections of people in the field. The study was a collaboration between Lancaster University, City University and the Centre for Longitudinal Studies at the Institute of Education, London. Material collected included documents, statistical data and oral history interviews with adults with basic skill needs, people involved with teaching and organising ABE and ESOL, and those making and managing policies. There was also a sample from the National Child Development Study. Oral interviews included experience and views of developing teaching and learning in adult literacy, numeracy & ESOL, high and low points in careers, and key moments that influenced their practice. People were asked to donate documents and teaching materials.
