Administrative / Biographical History

Gwasg y Brython was the publishing and printing business of Hugh Evans & Sons, Ltd, Liverpool, England. The business produced Christmas, birthday cards, and calendars, as well as publishing many Welsh books. It was founded in 1896 by Hugh Evans (1854-1934); Evans was the grandson of William Barnad (c. 1793-1867), and inherited his printed books. The company was sold in 1978 to Gomer Press of Llandysul, Carmarthenshire.
