John Elias was a very famous Calvinistic Methodist preacher. Born in 1774, his parents were from Aber-erch, Pwllheli, but he moved to Llanfechell, Anglesey following his marriage to the daughter of Richard Broadhead of Cemaes in 1799. In 1811 he was ordained.
His first wife died and in 1830 he married Ann, widow of Sir John Bulkeley of Presaddfed, Bodedern and they moved to live to Llangefni, Anglesey.
John Elias died in 1841 and is buried at Llanfaes, Anglesey.
