Scope and Content

Three religious poems written on the back of a 2-page engraved and coloured map of Poland "auctore Wenceslao Godreccio" [Waclaw Grodecki] first published in Basel in 1562, but here apparently removed from section 58 of an early edition of Ortelius, Theatrum orbis terrarum, the first recto having an early version of the printed Latin account of Poland, with numeral 58 below.

Administrative / Biographical History

Ralph Knevet, 1600-1671, poet, was a native of Norfolk, and tutor or chaplain to the family of Sir William Paston of Oxnead Hall, near Norwich. He is probably the same Ralph Knevet who was rector of the nearby parish of Lyng, from 1652 to 1671.
