Administrative / Biographical History

This company published the monthly 'New Builders Leader' (entitled the 'New Builders Leader and Electricians Journal', from Dec 1940 to Nov 1945) for workers in the building industry. Its editorial board was made up of representatives of the Amalgamated Union of Building Trade Workers, the Amalgamated Society of Woodworkers, the National Society of Painters, plumbers, labourers, architects, steel benders and the Electrical Trades Union (list dated 15 Nov 1937 at end of minutes in 1259/1).

Custodial History

These records belonged to Julius Jacobs, former National Union of Furniture Trade Operatives member and industrial organiser for the Communist Party of Great Britain. They were given to the donor Professor Janet Druker when she interviewed him.
