Administrative / Biographical History

Dorothy Moran (nee Dufton) came up to Girton to read Natural Sciences 1913-17. She was a Lawrence Research Student at the Royal Society 1916-18 and at the same time worked in the Trench Warfare Department, Ministry of Munitions. She went on to a post as assistant demonstrator in the Department of Physiology, University of Leeds 1918-19. She married Charles Wilson, Lord Moran of Manton in 1919. Throughout her life she was a member of committees, most concerning education, child welfare, and housing - including the Council of Bedford College for Women, the Board of Management of Marie Curie Hospital, and the Council of the Royal Medical Benevolent Fund Guild. She received the MBE.
