A collection of Welsh poetry.
The manuscript contains copies of cywyddau dating from the Middle Ages, material belonging to the age of Huw and Edward Morus as well as Twm o'r Nant and Rowland Huw himself. Y Bala is well represented in the poetry of Morris ap Robert and Rowland Huw. The names of Richard Parry and Robert Lewis also feature often in the manuscript.
Rowland Huw was born in 1714. He farmed the Graienyn on the slopes on the Llangower side of Bala lake. He was a Steward for Y Fach Ddeiliog and Rhiwedog and famous amongst the literary men of the period as a teacher of poets in the Bala area and as a collector of poetry.
Around 1850, a Robert Saunderson took some of Rowland Huw's manuscripts to the United States and many were lost in a fire.
Rowland Huw was buried in Llangower in 1802.
