Scope and Content

This small collection contains one sheet of manuscript in the handwriting of Jean-Jacques Rousseau. Rouseau was an 18th century philosopher whose political philosophy was influential in the Age of Enlightenment. His main works include Discourse on Inequality and The Social Contract. The manuscript was presented to the Library by the Voltaire Society (Robin Farquharson – Nuffield College alumnus) on the 16th February 1959.
