John Gwyn: Memoirs

This material is held atNational Library of Wales / Llyfrgell Genedlaethol Cymru

Scope and Content

A copy of the memoirs of John Gwyn (fl. 1660), captain in the King's regiment of guards, written before 1679. John Gwyn probably wrote several copies for presentation to his patrons. The text, from a later version comparable with that of Cardiff MS 2.269, was printed by Sir Walter Scott (1771-1832) in Military Memoirs of the Great Civil War ... Edinburgh, 1822. This manuscript is in the same hand as the Cardiff MS. Appended to the memoirs is a pedigree, with emblazoned arms, of the family of Gwyn of Trelydan, Montgomeryshire.
