Scope and Content

Whereas the Master, Fellows and Scholars of Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, by Indenture dated 26 Feb. 1752 let to Samuel, Lord Sandys of Ombersley, and Thomas, Lord Archer of Umberslade, the rectory of Grantchester with all appurtenances for a term of twenty-one years; Samuel, Lord Sandys, and Thomas, Lord Archer, assign the lease to Thomas Laurence of Essex St., Strand, for the remainder of the term. Exception is made of a lease dated 13 Feb. 1737/8 to Henry Headly of Grantchester for a term of fifteen years. Witnessed by Charles Laurence and Nathaniel Smith. On the back is a receipt for the sum agreed paid by Thomas Laurence, signed by Lord Sandys and Lord Archer. Witnessed by the same. Two seal are attached.
