Scope and Content

The account book of a William Jones being a record of the activities at Plas Dinas, near Llanwnda, Gwynedd, such as buying cheese and butter, what was sowed in the Spring of 1709. Also, references to local workers and family friends.

The document is a reflection of the agricultural and social state of the area in the early 18th century.

Administrative / Biographical History

Plas Dinas is located near Llanwnda, Gwynedd. It probably became the home of Captain Thomas Bulkeley through his marriage to Jane, widow of Thomas Williams of Plas Dinas.

Today, Plas Dinas is a Hotel and is licensed to hold Civil Wedding Ceremonies.

Custodial History

Carneddog mentions in a letter dated 1932 that the book was found by a stone mason in a hole in the wall of Plas Pant Afon in Llanrug, Gwynedd, the former home of Rev. P. Bayley Williams.
