Administrative / Biographical History

The Oddfellows are fraternal and benevolent societies, which originated in England in the 18th century. The Independent Order of Oddfellows (Manchester Unity) Friendly Society was founded in about 1810. The Loyal Dovey Lodge of the Independent Order of Oddfellows was part of the Gwalia District, located in Aberdyfi, Merionethshire. The Loyal Dovey Juvenile Lodge amalgamated with the adult lodge in 1938. The Dovey Lodge amalgamated with the Bera Castle Lodge and Sir John Edwards Lodge, Corris, in 1972.
