Business records of the Wall family, consisting predominantly of financial records.

Administrative / Biographical History

Abiah Daniel, a member of a family of flax-dressers, established a haberdashery in the High Street in Burford, Oxfordshire at the end of the 18th century. She subsequently married an Eynsham ropemaker, James Wall, who set up a ropemaking business in the High Street. This business was continued by his son Jabez and developed late in the 19th century into a general goods store and builders merchants. His son, Jabez James Wall, diversified into cycle manufacture and repairs in the early 20th century.

The records were deposited in the Library in 1955, and given in 1986.
