Administrative / Biographical History
Evan Davies, Calvinistic Methodist minister and writer, was born in Aberangell and from youth cultivated a great interest in the history and literature of Merionethshire and Montgomeryshire. He began preaching in 1865, entered Bala College in 1868, and served as minister successively in Llangynog, Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog and Trefriw. For over thirty years he co-edited Y Lladmerydd and also published his own works, which include biographies of Dafydd Dafis, Cywarch and Joseph Thomas, Carno.
