Scope and Content

Piddington is a village to the south east of Bicester. It was united with Ambrosden and Merton in 1977 to create a new benefice. However, it seems that it had shared a vicar with Ambrosden for some years before then (see PAR218/1/R4 below).

The records of Piddington were deposited in several stages, namely in 1956, 1974, 1978 and 1985 (with the Bodleian Library), and (directly with Oxfordshire Archives) in 1976, 1988, 1991 and 1994, with the respective Accession Numbers 1272, 2397, 2741, 3236, 3893 and 4761 (Acc. 1272 was originally catalogued as Piddington P.C.). Appendix I lists the contents of each deposit; a table of old and new references is given in Appendix II.

Catalogued in July 1995 by Robin Darwall-Smith.
