Scope and Content

The collection includes a neat copy manuscript book of poems entitled 'A Tale Told', and a number of other caligraphically written poems, with a few letters from Andrews to Kyrle Fletcher.

Administrative / Biographical History

HG Andrews was an artist and poet, a maker of lino-cuts and simple poems, often with a straightforward religious theme. He was a friend of Walter de la Mare, and two poems of his appear in a de la Mare-edited anthology, Love, in 1946. In 1934 he was living in Bristol, in 1936 in Llandaff, Glamorgan, and from 1938 in Taunton

The collection is one side of a correspondence about the poems and art between Andrews and the bookseller, Ifan Kyrle Fletcher of London. The papers were donated to Exeter University in May 1980
