Administrative / Biographical History
Alfred Edward Walden was born at Slough, Berkshire, in 1893 and educated at Caterham School and Birkbeck College, London. As a Lieutenant, Royal Garrison Artillery, he served on the North-West Frontier of India from 1915, with periods of service in Mesopotamia in 1916 and East Africa in 1918. He became a Professor of Chemistry at Wilson College, Bombay, from 1919.
