Administrative / Biographical History

Penylan Sunday School, Christchurch Road, Newport, Monmouthshire, appears to have began early in the 20th century, attached to Penylan Baptist Church. In 1962 the then superintendent re-established a local youth club. Attendance during the 1960s and 1970s was high and the school had success in the Annual Scripture Exam. An additional youth club was established in the late 1980s. However the loss of several staff members in 1987 and a decline in attendance led to the closure of Penylan Sunday School in 1992.
