Administrative / Biographical History
Carolyn Dee (also Drane) was a dancer who attended the Cone-Ripman School, London (later renamed the Arts Educational School) in 1948. Her professional debut was the touring revue show Happy Go Lucky (1946), followed by the pantomimes Cinderella (1949) and Aladdin (1950) at the Finsbury Park Empire Theatre, London. She was a member of dance troupe The Tiller Girls between 1951 and 1954 appearing in shows including the Crazy Gang's Ring Out the Bells (1952-1954). Other stage performances include: The Royal Variety Show at the London Palladium (1952) and the London Coliseum (1953); a tour of Kismet (1956-1959); a tour with The Blue Angels (1959-1960) a nightclub troupe; Circus Revyen in Denmark (1958); and Harten Troef in Amsterdam (1962-1963). Between 1964 and 1970, Dee worked as a dancer at the Revue Bar, in Manchester, where in 1970 she choreographed and directed the show The 58th Edition . She left the theatrical profession that year. Miss Dee also worked as a dresser at the Opera House, Manchester and Palace Theatre, Manchester.
