Administrative / Biographical History

In the 19th century, statutory undertakings (bodies operating under Act of Parliament, suhc as railway companies) were required to deposit copies of plans and other documents with the Clerk of the Court of Quarter Sessions. In Pembrokeshire, they mainly relate to railways, including the South Wales main line, Milford Junction Railway, and the Carmarthen and Cardigan Bay Railway; other records relate to Cardigan Harbour Improvement Company and to the Milford Haven oil refineries. A draft Bill was prepared in 1863-1864 for a railway to be called the South Wales, Tenby & Milford Haven Junction Railway.
