Administrative / Biographical History

William W. Jones ('Wil Patrwm', fl. 1877-1944), quarryman, of 2 Victoria Terrace, Llanberis, Caernarfonshire, was married to Kate Colliver (b. [1864]). She was the daughter of Mary Luke ([1829]-1895) and Thomas Colliver ([1814]-1895) who had come to the Llanberis area from Cornwall. Kate had a sister, Bessie, and a brother, William Colliver (b. 1850), who emigrated to Australia in 1886. William and Kate had five children: Mercedes Katie, Willie, Thomas, Edgar and Evan. Thomas ('Twm Patrwm', b. 1902) was, like his father, a pattern maker at the Dinorwic Quarry. Willie ([1898]-1917) served with the Royal Welch Fusiliers in the First World War and died in hospital in Egypt. Mercedes Katie Jones (b. 1895) was a nurse at Lady Margaret Hospital, Bromley, Kent, and at the Lambeth Infirmary, London.
