Administrative / Biographical History
The Liverpool Humane Society of Tin Plate Workers was established in 1802. It was renamed the Friendly Society of Tin Plate Workers in 1819, the Liverpool Friendly Society of Tin Plate Workers in 1853, the Liverpool Operative Tin Plate Workers' Society in 1876 and the Operative Braziers' and Sheet Metal Workers' Society, Liverpool in 1899. The Society was a founder member of the General Tramping Union of Tin-Plate Workers in 1861. It later affiliated to the National Amalgamated Tin-Plate Workers of Great Britain and in 1920 it amalgamated with other affiliated local societies to form the National Union of Sheet Metal Workers and Braziers.
