Scope and Content

A small collection of letters and manuscripts including: the manuscript of his life of Sir Josiah Mason, the founder of Mason College at Birmingham University, notes for a history of Birmingham, a notebook and engagement books, some correspondence including a document signed by Catherine de Medici in 1546.

Administrative / Biographical History

John Thackray Bunce, 1828-1899, was editor of the Birmingham Daily Post from 1862-1898 and was also a trustee of Mason College (later part of University of Birmingham).
