Scope and Content

Papers, 1803-[1899], relating to the Beynon family of Trewern, parish of Llanddewi Felffre, Pembrokeshire, comprising a diary and sporting journal of John Thomas Beynon, Trewern; the marriage settlement, 1803, of David Heron Pugh and Elizabeth Beynon; and Trewern and Dolwilym estate maps and a Trewern rental.

Administrative / Biographical History

The estates of Trewern and Dolwilym were united through the marriage of Edward Schaw Protheroe of Dolwilym (d. 1906) and Ellen Augusta Cecilia Beynon, daughter of John Thomas Beynon of Trewern. Ellen's great-grandfather, Thomas Beynon of Cethin, had inherited Trewern in right of his wife, Mary Thomas, heiress of the estate. Godfrey Evan Protheroe, the son of Edward and Ellen, assumed the additional surname of Beynon in 1899.
