Administrative / Biographical History

A group, mainly members of Bethania Welsh Baptist Church, Neath, began to meet in Briton Ferry in the early 1870s, and a congregation was incorporated in 1874. Land was acquired for building from the Briton Ferry Estate, and Salem Baptist Church was built on Vernon Street, Briton Ferry and opened in 1877. Following a long decline in membership, the decision was taken to close the church in 2013, and it was put up for sale in 2014.
