Scope and Content

Copies, in the hand of I.D. Hooson, of the following poems published in, Y Gwin a Cherddi Eraill : Rhyfel; Yr Oed; Y Bachgen Iesu; Yr Haint. The collection also includes the poem Ar y Ffordd, published in the Rhos Herald and Y Gwr Bonheddwr.

Administrative / Biographical History

Isaac Daniel Hooson, 1880-1948, poet, was born at Rhosllannerchrugog, Denbighshire. He was a solicitor by profession at Wrexham, but also wrote poetry for the magazine Cymru. He published only one collection of his poetry during his lifetime, Cerddi a Balediin 1936. He also wrote a Welsh adaptation of The Pied Piper of Hamlinunder the title Y Fantell Fraith in 1934. Following his death a second collection of his work was published in 1948, Y Gwin a Cherddi Eraill. The poems written by I.D. Hooson for children are amongst his best-known.

Arrangement

The papers of I.D. Hooson are incorporated into the General Collection of Bangor Manuscripts. There is no apparent system of arrangement.
