Scope and Content

Annotated scripts, administration files and articles from the Radio Times relating to the BBC Broadcasting for Schools programmes transmitted on BBC Radio. Most scripts are from the series for radio but there are also scripts and papers relating to the Radiovision programmes.

Administrative / Biographical History

Duncan Taylor was a producer and programme editor in the Schools Broadcasting Department of the BBC from 1947 to 1972. Previous to this he worked in teaching, educational administration and the RAF. He was the author of several books for children on careers and historical subjects.

Arrangement

Collection has been divided into three series:

1 - Scripts (1948-1973)

2 - Administrative files (1933-1972)

3 - Articles from the Radio Times (1950-1952)

A reader wishing to publish any quotation of information, including pictorial, derived from any archive material must apply in writing for prior permission from the Archivist or other appropriate person(s) as indicated by the Archivist. A limited number of photocopies may be supplied at the discretion of the Archivist.
