Le Hunte Family Papers

Papers of the Le Hunte family, 1693-1881, including correspondence, 1853-1877; financial papers, 1849-1850; insurance policies, 1847-1861; probate papers, 1753-1814; estate papers, 1693-1877; Llanrhian estate papers, 1736-1867; Maenclochog, Llangolman, Llandilo and Henry's Moat estate papers, 1727-1881; and Newport and Nevern estate papers, 1796-1858.

The Le Hunte family of Porthgain, Pembrokeshire, owned property in the parishes of Llanrhian, St David's, Henry's Moat, Newport, Nevern, Llandissilio West, Llangolman, Llandilo and Maenclochlog, Pembrokeshire from the late 17th century. The Le Hunte family included Richard Le Hunte of County Wexford, Ireland (fl. 1727-1808), who later moved to Llanrhian and St Botolphs, and George Le Hunte of Artramont, County Wexford, (fl. 1837-1877). George Le Hunte developed the slate quarrying industry in Porthgain in 1837. He married Mary and they had a son, Sir George Ruthven Le Hunte (1852-1925).
