DENBIGHSHIRE PARISH RECORDS

Records of Denbighshire parishes transferred to Flintshire Record Office by direction of the Church in Wales to conform with modern church boundaries, 1586-2000, including registers; service registers; terriers; income records; rectory records; glebe records; churchwarden's records; parochial church council records; records of church affairs; records of charities; vestry records; overseer's records; church school records; photographs; and miscellaneous.

Originally deposited at Clwyd Record Office / Denbighshire Record Office, Ruthin. Transferred from Denbighshire Record Office 02/07/2009. This was done in accordance with a directive from the Depositors, the Church in Wales, whereby they wished that places of deposit for parish records should now reflect the locations of parishes within current deanery boundaries.

The county of Denbighshire falls within the Diocese of St Asaph and consists of over fifty ecclesiastical parishes. The records of individual ecclesiastical parishes in Denbighshire include registers of baptisms, marriages and burials, as well as records of the churchwardens and Parochial Church Councils, parish charities, schools, clubs and societies. Parish records were deposited at the Clwyd Record Office, following an agreement of 1976 between the Church in Wales and the Welsh County Councils.

Records of individual parishes are arranged into the following: Incumbent and Benefice; Parish Administration (Ecclesiastical and Civil); Parish Charities; Parochial School; Statutory Deposits; and Miscellaneous.

Data Protection Act restrictions will apply to any items less than 100 years old that contain personal information as defined by the Act.

Microfilmed versions of the Registers of Baptisms, Marriages and Burials for these parishes are available at Flintshire and Denbighshire Record Offices, together with transcribed and indexed versions of those registers that predate 1812.
