NPG - Minutes of Corporate Advisory Group Meetings

This material is held atNational Portrait Gallery Archive

Scope and Content

The Corporate Advisory Group was established in 2003. Its purpose, as detailed in the minutes of the first meeting held in June, was to broadly extend the corporate support of the Gallery by developing a network of supporters, extending the scope and range of corporate support, and developing new ideas and models of corporate support. Meetings were held four times a year.

Meetings were attended by members of Gallery staff including the Director, Director of Communications and Development & Deputy Director, Head of Corporate Development, and Corporate Development Manager. Meetings are also attended by non Gallery staff: selected members of the Gallery's Development Board

Matters routinely discussed at meetings included aspects of corporate fundraising such as income generation, potential sponsors for exhibitions, priorities for the future, possible companies to approach for Corporate Partnership, and corporate fundraising events. Papers routinely include lists of sponsorship approaches; corporate funding updates; and summaries of corporate funding income.

Administrative / Biographical History

In 2009 the Corporate Advisory Group was disbanded in favour of a less formal means of communication: Gallery staff meet with members on an individual basis when necessary.
