Scope and Content

MS 1053/1 Autograph album (with photos) 1951-1952. It includes good luck messages from Anne's mother and from the various members of the cast.

MS 1053/2 Album includes a flyer for 'There goes the bride' at the Theatre Royal on 5 August 1974, which is signed on the back by Bernard Cribbins, Jane Downs and Terence Alexander.

MS 1053/3 Newscutting dated 1999 is an obituary for Peter Brough and is tucked inside the annual.

MS 1053/4 Archie Andrews Annual 1952-1953

MS 1053/5-7 Black and white photographic prints 1952-1953. In the photographs, Anne can be seen seated directly in front of Andrews, centre stage and lit up in front of the lyrics, and in the centre holding a balloon and looking up to 'the gods'. In the album she can be seen as the bride in the photograph of a married couple.

Administrative / Biographical History

Anne performed in the Theatre Royal pantomime 'Puss in Boots', 1951-2 as a bride and as part of the chorus. The autograph book relates to this performance. The annual and photographs relate to a show at the Empire Theatre featuring ventriloquist Peter Brough and his puppet Archie Andrews where she performed on stage with Brough and Andrews as part of Cissy Smith's Dancers. The annual is signed by Peter Brough and dated Nottingham 1953.

Anne received a Longstanding Volunteer Award from the University of Nottingham in 2016 for her many years of volunteering with Manuscripts and Special Collections. One of the tasks she worked on was the listing of a collection of theatre programmes of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire theatres.
