Administrative / Biographical History

Ronald Watts was an English agricultural economist and journalist who began his career in Africa working in Ibadan, Nigeria as a rural education officer. He and wife Theresa (née Piper) lived in the Bechaunaland Protectorate (now Botswana), Kenya, Uganda and Zimbabwe. He held university qualifications in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics and Education, taught at Makerere University, Uganda, in the Department of Rural Economy, and worked for the governments of Nigeria, Kenya, Botswana and Zambia.
