Administrative / Biographical History
In 1964, the Ministry of Defence subsumed the operations of the Admiralty, the War Office and the Air Ministry. In 1863, the War Office purchased various sites around the shores of Milford Haven for military purposes; the land was surveyed by Samuel B. Howlett, chief draughtsman to the War Office.
