Durham University Records: Stockton/Queen's Campus

Durham University's Stockton Campus was opened in October 1992 in purpose-built accommodation in Thornaby, Stockton-on-Tees, as a joint venture with the University of Teesside. It initially offered joint qualifications of the Universities of Durham and Teesside. In 1994, Durham assumed full sole responsibility for the campus. It was renamed Queen's Campus in honour of Queen Elizabeth II's Golden Jubilee in 2002 on the campus's 10th anniversary. Two residential colleges were established there in 2001: John Snow College and George Stephenson College. In 2007, the subjects on offer in Stockton were Applied Psychology, Biomedical Sciences, Business and Business Finance, Human Sciences, Medicine and Teacher Training. Stockton is also the home of the Wolfson Research Institute for research into health, medicine and the environment.
